Michael Crichton – Art Collector

I am always fascinated by people with money and how they choose to spend it, the late Michael Crichton, popular author of Jurassic Park and creator of ER (among other notable projects), is no exception and the world gets a glimpse at his impressive art collection when Christies puts many of the famed works up on the auction block this month. Looking at the collection it’s obvious of his affinity for post-war and modern art, especially the pop pieces of Jasper Johns, Warhol and Lichtenstein, but it’s surprising to see those living next to more contemporary works by Gursky and Mark Taney and the more whimsical pieces like the Claus Oldenburg sculpture above. Never judge a book by it’s cover.
